Why Papua?
This province has extraordinary potential in agriculture, mining, forest product and tourism. Pearls and weeds can be found in The Raja Ampat region while the only traditional industry, called Kain Timor, is produced at south Sorong region. A sweet smelling nutmeg syrup can be found at Fak-fak and there are varieties of other potentials. Natural tourism also makes a mainstay of West Irian Jaya, such as the Cendrawasih Bay National Park located in the Teluk Wondama region. This National Park spans the Kwatisore Strait up to the north of Rumberporn Island with total coastline of 500 km, land size of 58,200 ha, sea sized 1,385,200 ha with a tal 8,000 ha of corals and 12,400 ha of sea.
Where is Papua?
Papua is located at the position of 0Ί 19'-10Ί 45' South and 130Ί 45'-141' 48' East, occupying half of New Guinea which is the second larges island after Greenland. Physically, Papua is the largest province, size 21.9% of total land of Indonesia, at 421,981 km2. |

ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrival Jayapura
On arrival at Sentani airport, you will join a sightseeing tour, visit Monument of WWII and exploring lake Sentani, anthropology Museum, lunch at Yougwa Restaurant on the lake side. Late the afternoon back to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2
Jayapura - Wamena - Jiwika (B,L,D)
You take the 1st fligth to Wamena, drive to a small village to see the 250 year old Mummy and you may also explore the traditional village around, or climb the Mili mountain where a salt pool exists on the top. Here you will sea how the locals do their traditional salt process. Lunch en route. At noon, enjoy local performance such as mocked war and traditional Earth oven cooking. Today you can interact with the local Dani people and learn about their way of life. Late in the afternoon drive back to Wamena for dinner and overnight.
Day 03
Wamena Yaniruma (B,L,D)
After breakfast fly with your charter Missionary plane to Yaniruma which will take about an hour. Yaniruma is a home of Korowai tribe, who live in tree house. This is the most remote tribe found in Irian jaya so far. They live on cleared land deep in the rain forest. They live in a very traditional way, some of them still hold the hold beliefs of practicing cannibalism until the Missionary arrived and built new settlements to get the Korowai tribe more developed. The Missionary arrived in the 1970s and brought Christianity to the Korowai people. Yaniruma was opened for tourist in early 1980 and until now the place is still the most remote and desired by adventurous tourists. Its unique culture and environment make adventurers interest to come. You have a canoe ride across the Dairam river. Then you will proceed inside the forest searching for the tree house community. Meals will be served by your cook. Overnight at a Tree House.
Day 04
Jungle Treking (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we trek to another tree house clan for about 4-5 hours. We trek through sago swamps and sometimes we have to cross river with one single log bridge. Lunch en route. The temperature is hot and humid and there are many mosquitoes. Make sure you have malaria medicines and mosquito repellent. Dinner and overnight at a three house where the tree houses are built approximately 10 40 meters above the ground.
Day 05 06
Tree House People (B,L,D)
Full day joining the local people to see their daily life activities, such as Sago processing (main food), hunting, fishing.
Day 07
Koroway - Basman (B,L,D)
Next travel up the river to Basman, with more wild life and local tribe called Citak Mitak. Fishing, paddle dugout along the river bank is their style. Basman is the border of Citak Mitak and the Koroway tribes. Arrive Basman check in at simple house.
Day 08
Basman Senggo Jinak (B,L,D)
After breakfast with motorized canoe go down stream of Dairam river all the way to Jinak via Senggo the sub District of the Citak Mitak tribe region. Along the river sides, you see local people paddling on their canoes, bird, or even flying foxes scared by the engine of the boat, beautiful trees, and the boat ride itself is fun. Lunch on the boat while dinner and overnight at local house in the Jinak village. (Boat ride approx. 7 8 hours)
Day 09
Jinak Atsy Asmat Village (B,L,D)
Early breakfast, proceed to the boat again for another long ride to Asmat village via Atsy. Atsy is the second largest sub district in the Asmat region. Passing the big rivers of Wildemann and Sirets, the most well-known rivers to the Asmat people, enjoying the view of the busy villages on both sides until you arrive at village in the afternoon. Meals served by the cook. Overnight at Men house or school (Boat ride approx. 8 hours)
Day 10
Asmat Ceremonies (B,L,D)
To accomplish your adventure to Asmat, the Ceremony demonstration will be held at the village to make the tour more enjoyable, such as ritual songs with drumming also canoe racing
Day 11
Asmat Village - Agats (B,L,D)
Before living the village there are several art collections for you can buy busy as souvenir. Walk to motorized canoe for a sail to Agats. Lunch served en route. In the afternoon you may walk around Agats, also visit the museum. Overnight & dinner at Asmat Inn.
Day12
Agats / Tewer Timika (B,L,D)
Fly to Ewer Timika. Overnight in Timika.
Day 13
Timika Departure (B)
Leave the hotel after breakfast for Timika airport. Depart to your next destination.
