THE ICON IN THE BULGARIAN TRADITION IS NOT SIMPLY AN IMAGE OF A SAINT. THE ICON IS A SUBSTANTIAL PART OF OUR TRADITION, A CONCENTRATION OF CULTURE, HISTORICAL HERITAGE AND ART.

We offer you a unique opportunity to participate an Icon Painting Workshop in some of the most picturesque and spiritual places in Bulgaria: the town of Melnik, the village of Dolen and the town of Sozopol.

Place: A the "Lumparov's House" in the town of Melnik The town of Melnik is a charming Bulgarian historical and architectural reserve.

Visits to:

• Archeological sites near Melnik

• The Rozhen Monastery

Place: At the "RhoDea Houses" in the village of Dolen. The village of Dolen is an architectural reserve in the West Rhodope Mountains.

Visits to:

• The churches in the town of Gotse Delchev

• The "St. George Monastery" in the village of Hadjidimovo

Place: At the "House with the Sun" in the town of Sozopol. The town of Sozopol is a historical and architectural reserve at the Black Sea coast.

Visits to:

• Greek and Roman archeological sites

• The churches in Sozopol

• The town of Nessebar and its churches (Nessebar is under the auspices of UNESCO)

Other information: 6 participants. 

The instructor is an accomplished icon painter. Each participant will have an icon completed by the end of the workshop.

Includes: Six days full board. Tuition tax. Painting materials. Printed materials on Icons and Icon painting. Translation.
